1. Отказ принять (см.: acceptance (принятие; акцепт, согласие)) переводной вексель (bill of exchange) (отказ от акцепта (dishonour by non-acceptance)) или оплатить переводной вексель (отказ от платежа (dishonour by non-payment)). Неакцептованный или не принятый к оплате иностранный вексель должен быть опротестован (см.: protest (протест)).
2. Отказ оплатить чек в тех случаях, когда на счете трассанта нет достаточной для оплаты суммы. Когда банк отказывается оплатить чек, он делает на нем пометку “обращайтесь к трассанту” и возвращает его получателю платежа через его банк.
